Asseco SEE Romania awarded at the Online Banking Gala

During the 7th edition of Online Banking Gala, Asseco SEE and CEC BANK were awarded for the first  implementation in Romania of a new innovative authentication solution for customers through a display token card. The solution, deployed at CEC BANK in 2014, provides enhanced security for both CEC Online and TeleCEC platforms users.

The device, in which the authentication solution was installed, supplied by Asseco SEE, incorporated a series of high-end modern technologies such as the ePaper screen with 8 characters, tactile buttons and a minimum three year battery life. As far as security features are concerned, a novelty of the product is that it generates the opening session with a PIN code. Similarly to bank cards, the rewriting of an incorrect PIN code leads to the locking of the device, followed by the Bank`s staff support to unlock it. The use of the token display card can be extended to becoming a payment instrument (a bank card), compatible with the standards imposed by VISA and MasterCard.

The awards were based on the research conducted by eFinance and Financial Market publications for the seventh consecutive year, who collected the data reported by 18 commercial banks participating in the study, providers of internet and mobile banking  services to Romanian customers.

Amongst the winning participants, beside Asseco SEE and CEC Bank, there were financial institutions such as Raiffeisen Bank, ING Bank, BRD Groupe Société Générale, Romanian Commercial Bank, Libra Internet Bank, Garanti Bank, Bancpost, OTP Bank, Banca Transilvania, Piraeus Bank, Procredit and Kaspersky Lab, the world’s largest privately held vendor of endpoint protection solutions.
